Infographic map showing the chronological evolution of the surface area of the Aletsch, the Alps’ largest glacier. Plus additional interactive content in agumented reality.

Project developed during an interaction design class at SUPSI – Lugano. The first part of the brief prompted us to create a printed map to illustrate a phenomenon of our choice. I decided to work on the theme of climate change and to focus on the shrinkage of the Aletsch glacier. Alongside the paper map, we were also tasked with creating a little AR app to provide an additional layer of interactive information. When the app is pointed to the map, the glacier’s extension is shown on a 3D topographic model. The user can then move through the years and even see a future projection.
